If you're looking for the ultimate surf and food experience, look no further than Seignosse in France!
This seaside town is a surfers' paradise with plenty of surf spots to choose from. And when you're done surfing for the day, there are plenty of great restaurants and cafes to enjoy.
In this guide, we'll give you a rundown on the top Seignosse surf and food spots in town - all of which can be easily sussed out over the course of five days!
But first...
Where is Seignosse?
Seignosse is a relaxed little enclave located in the Landes department of southwest France.
It's part of the greater Aquitaine region, which is known for its surf spots, sandy beaches and beautiful coastline. Seignosse itself is one of the most historic places in France when it comes to surfing.
As such, the town is popular amongst surfers (but definitely quieter and more chilled than Hossegor to the south). It’s also where Southwest Surf House is located!
How do I book a food and surf Seignosse trip?
Want to book a food and surf Seignosse trip? You're in luck. Simply follow the steps below to start planning your perfect surf vacation to southwest France.
Decide when you want to visit Seignosse and Hossegor then book your flights using a flight aggregator website - the best spots for this are Skyscanner or Google Flights.
Reserve accommodation. Of course, we would love you to book with us, but if for whatever reason we're full, make sure to choose somewhere professional with access to the beach, surf guides who know where to take you when it's good and a surf course to teach you the finer points.
Purchase travel insurance for your trip (PassportCard is great) and line up surf lessons. Note that you can always sort the latter while you're there - doing it in person might be easier. Keep in mind that if you book with us, we'll save you the hassle and sort surf lessons on your behalf with experienced local surf schools.

Like all guides, the following tips are purely recommendations. At the end of the day, what you do is your business. We're just here to make sure you have the best time possible!
With that being said, here's a surf and food guide to Seignosse that we think will help you make the most of your trip.
Day 1 - Food: Le Surfing // Surf: Plage des Estagnots
It's Day 1 of your stay at Southwest Surf House, but what to do?
Well, you can't undertake a Seignosse surf and food trip with your homies and not hit Le Surfing. It's the place to be near our surf house for chill vibes, delicious food and late-night parties.
Run by one of Hossegor's more savvy expat chefs, Le Surfing is a popular haunt. But before you indulge in a bowl or plate of Le Surfing's finest, you should go for a surf at Plage des Estagnots.
It's literally a 15-second walk up the road from Le Surfing. It's also our favourite beach break in the area with waves that vary from gentle rollers to pumping peaks. As such, its great for surfers of all skill levels - from beginners to those with surf experience.
Plage des Estagnots is also where we park our foam surfboard truck, which means you can ride here from our house, grab a foamie and hit the waves without having to carry a board with you to the beach.
Noodle arms before you hit the waves?
Not today.
Day 2 - Food: Midgard // Surf: Plage des Bourdaines
If you're like most people who hit the ground running on their first day at Southwest Surf House, then Day 2 might seem like it can't get any better.
But trust us - it can and it does. Because next up is Midgard for food and Plage des Bourdaines for surfing.
With fresh meals prepared daily, a great mix of items on the menu and a killer spot, Midgard is a popular place for weary surfers to fill their stomachs and quench their thirst. From poke bowls to tacos and burgers, it's only a few steps from the beach and a must for food lovers in Seignosse.
Of course, a trip to Midgard should come after a session at Plage des Bourdaines. Less crowded than its neighbours, Bourdaines is a vast stretch of sand just north of Estagnots.
And like other beach breaks in the area, it's an incredibly good spot for all surfing levels looking to take lessons or escape the busyness of Hossegor. Because as we all know, fewer people in the water = more waves for you!
Day 3 - Food: La Cabane des Estagnots // Surf: Le Culs Nus
Bare bottoms and sunset drinks might not seem like your usual combo but stick with us because your Day 3 destinations are memorable for two very different reasons.
First up, the food and drinks at the beloved sunset-watching spot, La Cabane des Estagnots. When it comes to food and surf Seignosse, this is one of those unmissable places.
Located right on the beach on an elevated sand dune, it gives you a sweeping view north to Bourdaines and south to Le Culs Nus (more on that shortly). And as such, it's the go-to watering hole when the sun begins to dip.
As for surfing, Le Culs Nus (French for "bare bums") is where you're most likely witness de-robed flesh. And with a name like that you shouldn't be surprised. But nudists aside, the waves here get pretty darn good.
It's a beach break like Bourdaines and Estagnot, which means it's perfect for all skill levels - conditions permitting. And because it sits in the middle of the famous La Graviere and beaches like Estagnot, you might find that you surf it with only a handful of other people.
Oh... and it goes without saying that clothing is optional.
It's all part of the fun!
Day 4 - Food: Couleur locale // Surf: Plage des Casernes
If for whatever reason La Cabane des Estagnots is full or you're just not keen for an eye-full of saggy over 60s skin, there's always another beach bar just up the road. And one of the best beach bars for food, drinks and pretty sunsets is Couleur locale.
White Landais wine, frothy beers from the tap and plenty of tapas options make this spot a firm favourite with surfers and non-surfers alike. And with prices that won't break the bank, you can easily while away an afternoon or evening here without spending a fortune.
If you're not hungry yet though, may we suggest a shred session at the lovely Plage des Casernes? It's a (yep... you guessed correctly) beach break located a little north of Seignosse and Le Penon. And it's known for being a local secret that’s worth checking when everywhere else is crowded.
Better yet, because it's suitable for all abilities, groups of friends who all shred at different surf levels can still have fun.
A win for everyone!
Day 5 - Food: Les Mets d'Alice // Surf: Le Penon
For our final stop on the south west France Seignosse surf and food tour, we have the restaurant Les Mets d'Alice and the waves at Le Penon.
Hopefully by now you've had a decent taste of all the Landes coast has to offer. But if you're still feeling peckish, then this little gem is sure to hit the spot. They offer a mix of traditional French fare, Asian dishes and of course, a fantastic array of desserts.
Throw in a bunch of excellent cocktails and the fact that it's located just off the beach, and you've got the perfect place to round off your surf trip.
As for surf, Le Penon is yet another beach break that can be home to quality lefts and rights when the rest of the coastline is lighting up.
And while it can get busy, there are almost always enough surf breaks for everyone. Our tip is to visit during small to medium swells. Even if it's not working you can always sesh the skatepark and practice your surfing techniques on land.
So that’s all, folks.
In this guide to Seignosse surf spots and food stops, we've highlighted some of the best places to eat and drink - as well as where to catch the best waves.
